Bitcoin BIP110 mainnet is live with its first production release.

Bitcoin BIP110 has completed its transition to BLAKE2b proof of work and reached its first production mainnet release.

The live chain transitioned from SHA-256d to BLAKE2b proof of work at block 961,640 on August 30, 2026. Bitcoin Knots v29.4.1.knots20260508 was then released on September 2, 2026 as the first final production release carrying the Bitcoin BIP110 mainnet consensus changes.

Mainnet status: Block 961,639 is the final SHA-256d block on this branch. Block 961,640 is the first BLAKE2b block and was mined on August 30, 2026 at 06:14:39 UTC.

The final release retains the live chain established during the release-candidate process. There was no mainnet reset between RC5 and the production release. Nodes following the BLAKE2b chain therefore continue from the same block history beginning at height 961,640.

  • Bitcoin BIP110 now uses BLAKE2b proof of work and version-2 block headers from height 961,640 forward.
  • The release includes the reduced-data flag-day changes and temporary 800 kWU block-weight limit.
  • Opt-in SIGHASH_UNIFIED support is included for chain-specific transaction signing.
  • Nodes, miners, wallets, explorers, exchanges, and other infrastructure must support the Bitcoin BIP110 consensus rules to operate on the current network.

Running Bitcoin BIP110

Node operators should use the current Bitcoin BIP110 release and verify before installing or upgrading. The Directory page contains the current release, release notes, checksums, signatures, source code, and supporting resources.

The Node's Guide covers installation, configuration, verification, upgrading, and operation of a Bitcoin BIP110 node. Existing operators should confirm that their node is following the BLAKE2b chain from block 961,640.

Mining Bitcoin BIP110

Bitcoin BIP110 can no longer be mined with SHA-256d Bitcoin ASICs. Miners must use BLAKE2b-compatible hardware together with software capable of constructing and submitting Bitcoin BIP110 blocks. The Miners' Guide covers the current mining workflow and network requirements.

Verify the chain: The current Bitcoin BIP110 network should show block 961,639 as the final SHA-256d block and block 961,640 as the first BLAKE2b block. Network status can be independently checked using compatible nodes and explorers such as mempool.guide.
