A Note from the Site Maintainers
BitcoinBIP110.org was created as a neutral public resource to explain Bitcoin BIP110, document its history, and help people understand and safely navigate the BIP 110 chain split.
Our primary concern is the lack of clear public communication surrounding Bitcoin BIP110. The confusion around this hard fork creates significant risks for ordinary people who hold Bitcoin, including loss of funds, exposure to scams, replay attacks, and mistakes involving transactions on one or both chains.
Important: Many Bitcoin holders are unaware that, after the BLAKE2b hard fork, they may also control a corresponding amount of Bitcoin BIP110.
This situation opens the door for scammers and attackers to take advantage of everyday Bitcoiners. They may create fraudulent wallets, fake claiming tools, misleading exchanges, and other schemes designed to steal people's Bitcoin BTC, Bitcoin BIP110, or both.
A chain split can also create confusion between Bitcoin BTC and Bitcoin BIP110. Users may accidentally send funds using the wrong wallet, interact with the wrong network, misunderstand exchange support, or expose coins on one chain while attempting to move coins on the other. These mistakes could result in the loss of Bitcoin BTC, Bitcoin BIP110, or both.
It is our responsibility as members of both communities to communicate clearly with the public about what is happening and how users can protect themselves.
Our goal is to document the history of BIP 110 as accurately as possible, rely on verifiable information, explain the technical and practical consequences of the fork, and clearly distinguish Bitcoin BIP110 from Bitcoin BTC.
The purpose of this site is to:
- Clearly and accurately explain Bitcoin BIP110.
- Document the history and development of Bitcoin BIP110.
- Explain the technical and practical consequences of the hard fork.
- Inform Bitcoin BTC holders about any corresponding Bitcoin BIP110 coins they may control after a chain split.
- Document known risks, including scams, phishing, replay-related issues, wallet compatibility, exchange confusion, and loss of access to coins.
- Provide factual information that can help users navigate between Bitcoin BIP110 and Bitcoin BTC.
We welcome contributions from developers, researchers, users, and members of both the Bitcoin BTC and Bitcoin BIP110 communities.

How Updates Should Be Handled
Developers, researchers, users, and members of both the Bitcoin BTC and Bitcoin BIP110 communities are invited to contribute sourced corrections.
A correction should identify the exact page and statement, provide the strongest available primary source, include the observation date, and explain whether the change corrects a historical fact, updates a changing status, or resolves conflicting evidence.
Material corrections should be recorded with the previous claim, the replacement claim, the supporting evidence, and the publication date.
A public corrections address and security-reporting contact remain pending rather than being inferred.
